Coach Terry Smothers

Coach Terry Smothers is from Alief, Texas, a suburb on the southwest side of Houston. Coach Smothers had a stellar high school career playing at Alief Hastings High School. While at Hastings, he was named Honorable Mention 5A All State two years, First Team All District (twice) and he left Hastings on the list as the second all time in 3pts made. Coach Smothers played collegiate basketball at Huston-Tilloston University in Austin, Texas. After a successful career, Coach Smothers decided to forgo playing abroad to concentrate on his education and begin a career. Coach Smothers has been a part of training and developing players in the Austin area for over ten years. Coach Smothers' coaching career has included three years at Summit Christian Academy, where he was in charge of player development for the middle school and high school teams. He also coached the Junior Varsity team and was the Varsity Assistant. During his time there, Summit was able to reach the TAPPS 2A State tournament two years in a row, and 5 players in that from those teams received college scholarships as a result. Over the years, Coach Smothers has helped numerous young men and women develop their skills to play on the collegiate level. He is heralded as one of the top trainers in Central Texas. ATX Future is s program founded by Coach Smothers whose sole purpose is to develop, teach and improve basketball in the Austin area. So Join The Movement!
Coach Jeremy Horne
Coach/Trainer
Coach Horne played high school basketball at James Bowie High School for Celester Collier and began his collegiate basketball at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio for Buddy Meyer. Coach Horne graduated from Huston-Tillotson University with a Bachelors in Business Management/Marketing. He has been a contributor to mentoring youth in Austin and San Antonio since 2010 and also trained and coached football for G.E.A.Y.A. and basketball for the Spurs Youth Basketball League. Coach Horne also had a brief stint coaching AAU/elite basketball with Texas Elite. Currently, Coach Horne is a 4th Grade teacher at River Oaks Elementary.
Coach Jeff McMillian

Coach Jeff McMillian comes to ATX Future with an impressive history and extensive basketball knowledge at the high school, college and pro levels. In high school, Coach McMillian was ranked 46th best recruit by The Sporting News. He was also named among the top recruits by Hoop Scoop, Full Court magazine, Insiders Report, Bob Gibbons college yearbook, Recruiters Handbook and Fast Break Recruiting. Due to his skill, Coach McMillian earned a full scholarship to Fordham University under Coach Bob Hill, and was selected for Atlantic-10 All-Freshman Team 2001. He then went on to play with the Coach Henry Bibby at the University of Southern California (USC), where he was 2004 Pac-10 Newcomer of the Year (for non-freshman, first-year players) and all-time field goal percentage career leader.Once Coach McMillian graduated from USC, he went on to play professionally in Europe and South America. Not only does Coach McMillian have personal experience playing the game, but he also has experience as coach for ages 7-18. As a coach, he also worked to help improve players’ skill levels and prepare them to play at a higher level. He has also worked in several high profile basketball camps around the country, such as the Five-star basketball camp at Fordham University, Bob Cantu Summer Camps, and Henry Bibby’s Summer Camps at USC. ATX Future is grateful to have such an accomplished, knowledgeable coach on our team and we look forward to the amazing work he will do with our players.
Coach Lawrence Bailey

Coach Bailey played high school basketball all four years at Converse Judson High School for Mike Wacker. He also played one year of basketball at Div. II University of the Incarnate Word for Ken Burmeister. Coach Bailey graduated from Texas State in December 2012 with a Bachelors in Exercise Sports Science. He began teaching and coaching in 2013 at McDade Middle School, and has experience coaching both boys and girls teams. Coach Bailey also has two years of experience coaching AAU/elite basketball. He currently teaches at Pflugerville Middle School. ATX Future is grateful to have Coach Bailey's experience and skill in working with and relating to our young players.
Coach Blaine Bowman

Coach Bowman was raised in Austin, TX. He is currently a student at the University of Texas at Austin, working on his degree in Sports Management and will continue at Texas to receive his Masters Degree in Sports Management. Coach Bowman is part of the women's basketball program at UT as a practice player/manager where he scrimmages against and prepares the athletes on and off the court. During his high school career, he played underneath Coach Terry Smothers and led the team to two playoff appearances and one Sweet Sixteen appearance. Coach Bowman understands the importance of hard work, dedication, and has a strong emphasis on doing the little things correctly and efficiently. Coach Bowman brings a unique and important style of coaching to ATX Future and brings his strong beliefs and values to developing athletes.
